Y6 Team Lyrics (for leavers’ production)

July 4, 2017

We will be singing this at the end of our leavers production so please try and learn the lyrics! ‚ėļ

Y6 Team Lyrics‚ėĽ

We have laughed, We have cried, Having the time of our lives Oooh, see that boy, see that girl We are the Y6 team

End of term and it’s time to go, Say goodbye to the school we know With some help from our classmates, Everything is cool We’re gonna miss this school!

All the teachers are friendly guys, Helped us out and they made us try With some help from our classmates, Everything is cool We’re gonna miss this school!

And soon it’s time to go

We are the Y6 team Young and sweet, always bright and keen Y6 team Moving on to achieve our dreams, oh yeah

We have laughed, We have cried, Having the time of our lives Oooh, see that boy, see that girl We are the Y6 team

Scratch maths Game (by Jude)

April 17, 2017

Scratch maths game

So to make the game i had to overcome challenges like at the start i put in a code for division but realized that any number from 1 to 144 divided by any number between 1 to 12 wouldn’t always work perfectly and some would have a rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreally long decimal at the end so that didn’t work.

But apart from that it was pretty easy because once you had one you could just duplicate it and change the symbols.

so here is the link:

The Blackthorn key book review

March 5, 2017

The Blackthorn key is a story set in London just before the plague. It is a detective book and also full of action and adventure. It is exciting and I found myself reading it long past my bed-time because it was so good! It is appropriate for Y6 but not really for anyone younger.

Please read the book and tell me what you think of it. If you think it is good please read the other one in the series called the mark of then plague and tell me what you think of that too.

Rate the book like this:

1=rubbish!!!       2=not interested       3=not great       4=Its OK      5=it was alright       6=not bad        7=pretty good       8=great!     9=excellent!       10=MUST READ!!!

Lego Batman Movie Review

February 27, 2017

Hello, fellow cinema fans! Recently I watched the Lego Batman Movie, an astonishing film that combines two of my favourite things, Lego and superheroes.

Now, let me introduce some of the main characters. First on the list we have Robin A.K.A. Dick Grayson, an orphan inadvertently adopted by Batman!  Even though in most of the films Robin is a teenager, in this one he is portrayed as a wide eyed, hyperactive, excitable child. Then we have Batgirl, A.K.A Barbara Gordon, completely new to Batman. She is the new police commissioner, the feisty heroine of this story. Faithful butler Alfred, who has served the Wayne family for years is also featured; he feels responsible for Batman and acts like a father would to him. Well, I think that’s everyone, but I might have missed someone (no Mr Alderdice, it isn’t Spiderman). Ah, yes, Batman, that’s who I forgot. So right, Batman, our protagonist and the lone wolf of the story has a far more complicated background than you would think. Even though he is a superhero, he is lonely when he is at home in the evenings, and this film helps him find what matters most, family.

So we’ve already explained one theme, finding family, and the other, related to that and familiar to all superhero movie fans, is how best to defeat the unrelenting hordes of enemies. This film brings the two themes together perfectly with Batman exploring which is a better technique, working independently or cooperatively, as part of a team.

Altogether, I found this film incredible, with humour, action and fun kicking in at the points where you need them, And does it have a happy ending, and do the baddies get their comeuppance? Of course they do.

Now to finish off here is a proverb “Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman. If so, then be Batman.

Caving in Link Pot

As you may know, I am a caver. I am a junior member of the NPC (Northern Pennine Club) and a member of the BCA (British Caving Association).

The last time I went down a cave was on 4th February 2017. The cave was called Link Pot which is in North Yorkshire.

In order to enter the cave, I had to climb down a 15 metre (49 ft)¬† drop on¬†a ladder. During this trip, I faced my most challenging traverse yet. To complete the traverse called ‘The Canyon’, I had to crawl 15 metres along a narrow ledge overlooking a 15 metre drop. Following this, I stepped twice over the gaping drop, eventually coming to a gushing waterfall, which fell approximately 10 metres over a ledge. In order to carry on, I had to overcome this obstacle and whilst it was daunting, I managed to step to the other side safely! From entering to exiting the cave, the trip took roughly 5 hours in total.

Further on, I came across a chamber called ‘China Dog Chamber’, which gets its name from a rock formation in it that looks just like a china dog! Before turning back, we marvelled at the ‘Serendipity Pitches’, which is a huge underground waterfall, dropping 30 metres and coming out at a mile long passage called ‘Easy Street’.

Whilst challenging and daunting in places, I thoroughly enjoyed my trip down Link Pot and talked about it over a lovely meal at Whoop Hall Hotel, where the NPC held its annual winter dinner.

The entrance to Link Pot

Here is a picture of the entrance to Link Pot. As you can see, there is a metal bar at the top of the pitch. To negotiate the entrance and enter the cave, I had to sit on the ledge opposite the steel bar and grab it before lowering myself onto the ladder.

Well done to the boys from Year 5/6 for their effort and teamwork in their football match against St. John’s on Friday.

February 12, 2017

Hi, sorry I haven’t posted for a while.

I has been requested by my younger brother that I make a post about rollercoasters. Please note: I give all credit to my younger brother as all knowledge and information is supplied by him.

So, over to him.

Rollercoasters can be of many types: some may be launched, some may be inverted, some may be stand-up and some may be classic.

Sometimes they are looped and sometimes they speed down steep drops.

Some are launched and some whizz down almost-vertical drops.

Some rollercoasters break world records. One example is the Smiler rollercoaster which was the world’s first fourteen looping rollercoaster. Some, however, do not.

Until next time, GOODBYE!

Forza Horizon fail ?

February 5, 2017

Forza horizon 3 was probably one of the most hyped up games last year but after every one¬†got it they realised its pretty much a reboot of forza horizon 2 but souped up ¬†graphics and they heavily emphasised¬†the whole “you can go anywhere” effect

but you just couldn’t

and it was quite a disappointment when the final race was against a blimp (I mean really ?)

and they yet again started to pump out loads of DLC (including Blizzard mountain and bmw i8 AMG GTR car pack )

so all in all yes FH3 was a great game but really turned out to be a disappointment to most players
